How beta-skeletons lose their edges

چکیده
A β-skeleton is a proximity graphs with node neighbourhood defined by continuousvalued parameter β. Two nodes in a β-skeleton are connected by an edge if their lune-based neighbourhood contains no other nodes. With increase of β some edges a skeleton are disappear. We study how a number of edges in β-skeleton depends on β. We speculate how this dependence can be used to discriminate between random and non-random planar sets. We also analyse stability of β-skeletons and their sensitivity to perturbations.

متن کاملOn growing connected β-skeletons
A β-skeleton, β ≥ 1, is a planar proximity undirected graph of an Euclidean points set, where nodes are connected by an edge if their lune-based neighbourhood contains no other points of the given set. Parameter β determines the size and shape of the lune-based neighbourhood. A β-skeleton of a random planar set is usually a disconnected graph for β > 2. With the increase of β, the number of edg...
متن کاملStraight skeletons with additive and multiplicative weights and their application to the algorithmic generation of roofs and terrains
We introduce additively-weighted straight skeletons as a new generalization of straight skeletons. An additively-weighted straight skeleton is the result of a wavefront-propagation process where, unlike in previous variants of straight skeletons, wavefront edges do not necessarily start to move at the begin of the propagation process but at later points in time. We analyze the properties of add...
متن کاملA posttranslational modification of beta-actin contributes to the slow dissociation of the spectrin-protein 4.1-actin complex of irreversibly sickled cells
Irreversibly sickled cells (ISCs) remain sickled even under conditions where they are well oxygenated and hemoglobin is depolymerized. In our studies we demonstrate that triton extracted ISC core skeletons containing only spectrin, protein 4.1, and actin also retain their sickled shape; while reversibly sickled cell (RSC) skeletons remodel to a round or biconcave shape. We also demonstrate that...
متن کاملGeneralized $\beta$-skeletons
β-skeletons, a prominent member of the neighborhood graph family, have interesting geometric properties and various applications ranging from geographic networks to archeology. This paper focuses on developing a new, more general than the present one, definition of β-skeletons based only on the distance criterion. It allows us to consider them in many different cases, e.g. for weighted graphs o...
